Welcome to your first step into secure digital asset management. By choosing a Trezor hardware wallet, you are taking a powerful stand for privacy, control, and ownership of your cryptocurrency. Trezor.io/Start® is the official place to begin this journey — providing trusted, step-by-step guidance to set up your Trezor device safely and confidently.
Trezor was the world’s first hardware wallet, launched by SatoshiLabs in 2014. Today, it's considered one of the most secure and easy-to-use tools for protecting crypto assets. By keeping your private keys offline, Trezor protects you from online threats such as phishing, hacks, and malware — all while giving you full custody of your crypto.
At Trezor.io/Start, you’ll learn how to:
When you receive your Trezor wallet, it should come in a sealed package. Inside, you’ll find:
Important: If you notice any signs of tampering, stop immediately and contact Trezor Support.

Trezor Suite is the companion app that allows you to manage your crypto assets, update your firmware, install apps, and more. Choose your operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux) and install the software.
Using the provided USB cable, plug your device into your computer. Trezor Suite will detect your device and begin the setup process.
New devices don’t come preloaded with firmware for security reasons. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the latest firmware version from the official Trezor servers.
Choose “Create new wallet” and follow the prompts. Your device will generate a 12, 18, or 24-word recovery seed — this is the master key to your wallet.
Your Trezor will ask you to confirm certain words from the seed phrase. This ensures you’ve written them down correctly and in the right order.
You’ll now create a PIN code on the device. This prevents unauthorized access if someone gains physical possession of your Trezor.
You can choose to enable passphrase protection — an optional 25th word added to your recovery seed. This adds another layer of security but requires careful handling.
In Trezor Suite, you can now add accounts for supported coins like Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, and thousands more. Each blockchain has its own account and wallet interface.
Losing your Trezor device doesn’t mean losing your crypto — as long as you have your recovery seed. Simply buy a new Trezor, go to Trezor.io/Start, and choose “Recover wallet.” Enter the exact words from your recovery card and your funds will be restored.
If your recovery seed is lost, no one (including Trezor) can help you regain access. That’s why backing up your seed securely is the most critical step.
